……Alas, not everyone is. A handful of red states are trying to mince these meats’ prospects.

Republican politicians in Alabama, Arizona, Tennessee and Florida are considering legislation that would ban the sale, distribution or import of any “cell-cultured food product” intended for human consumption. Depending on the state, penalties could include everything from a $1 million fine to prison time.

“Some folks probably like to eat bugs with Bill Gates, but not me,” said Tennessee state Rep. Bud Hulsey (R), referring to the billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist who has invested in some of these technologies.

Hulsey suggested that allowing the sale of lab-grown meat would be a violation of the Nuremberg Code, which limits experimentation upon human subjects.

Over in Florida, both legislative chambers have already passed a bill criminalizing the sale of lab-cultivated meat. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has not yet signed it, but he recently said his state will not “do that fake meat. Like, that doesn’t work.”

He condemned “a whole ideological agenda that’s coming after a lot of important parts of our society.”

To be clear, this is not about a left-wing nanny state forcing the sale or consumption of lab-grown meats.

It’s about a conservative nanny state prohibiting the voluntary consumption and sale of these products (which again, mostly don’t yet exist).

What happened to the Republicans who wanted the free market to choose winners and losers?

Where is the party of limited government?

Dissertations could be written on that subject, but the proposed cultivated-meat bans illustrate at least two key forces behind the GOP’s anti-market evolution: culture wars and crony capitalism.

These bans are partly about, well, throwing red meat to the base. Witness the allusions to “Bill Gates” (who features prominently in right-wing conspiracy theories) and an allegedly shady, anti-American “ideological agenda.”

Some politicians’ brains have been so warped by desires to “own the libs” that any adverse climate impacts of conventional meat production might be a feature, not a bug………

What a callous piece of shirt.
It's basic cult leader tactics. You have to convince your followers that their only identity is your cult, so they will blindly follow your cult and refuse to listen to anyone else.

Pr Matt Baker of Trinity Christian Academy in Palm County, Florida is not a Christian leader, he is a cult leader using a bastageized interpretation of Christianity to build a cult devoted to him.

He's the one who is actually committing idolatry in defiance of the teachings of Christ. If being demonic is a real thing, then he's the demonic one.

Kid Rocks 'Rock The Counntry' concert was in Gonzales this weekend. all the pictures i saw, it may as well been a Trump rally (probably could have doubled as a Klan rally).
Kid Rock teased a BIG 'special guest' that was gonna make an appearance on stage. Everyone was like its gonna be Trump!!! have a friend who has a friend whos cousin works at the airport and they closed the airport... and I have a friend who moms 2nd cousin knows a guy who works for the FBI and he said his friend works for the Secret Service and they are in ther area..lol
The build up all weekend, then right before the final act (i'm assuming Kid Rock) out comes Tucker Carlson..LOL.. Talk about FAIL!! of course they all were just estatic over the Jesus jr.. Kid Rock pushed this special guest thing so hard and knew everyone was expecting Trump. they fail for it hook line and sinker..

    doubling down

Um, Empty Greene? A Bronze Age people used them to designate approval or disapproval by their selected deity. Much like Inshalah and God’s Will which are used to justify success or rationalize failure.

He thinks you can't support the FBI and also not allow them to do everything they want. he is used to only giving full control/support to whoever/whatever he supports. no in between. all or nothing...

Massie is pointing out the absurdity of Mike Rogers saying that a warrant shouldnt be required for FISA when spying on Americans because it's too much to build a SCIF for a few FISA judges after he voted to give the FBI a new 200 million dollar headquarters.

    It's a ridiculous reason.

Do you think a warrant should be required for FISA when it involves American citizens?
