Russia continues to mass assets within range of Ukraine - though the official explanations are that they are for various exercises. United States intelligence has noted that Russian operatives in Ukraine could launch 'false flag' operations as a predicate to invasion. The West has pressed for negotiations and on Friday in Geneva, the US Sec. State Blinken will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Certainly the Russian movements evidence some plan - but what is it? Some analysts believe that Putin's grand scheme involves securing Western commitments that NATO would never expand beyond its current composition. Whether that means action in Ukraine or merely the movement of pieces on the chess board remains to be seen.

VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

There were hints, never quite spelled out, that nuclear weapons could be shifted to places — perhaps not far from the United States coastline — that would reduce warning times after a launch to as little as five minutes, potentially igniting a confrontation with echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

I would actually like you to flesh out this thought. This sounds like fruit loops.

Was lend/lease a traitorous act perpetuated by FDR, and Congress?

Can you not be loyal to your own country while supporting the war effort of an ally?

    It goes something like this:
    • Trump idolizes and envies Putin's authoritarian power.
    • Putin attacked and invaded Ukraine.
    • Ukraine is fighting back, much to Putin's surprise and chagrin.
    • That makes Ukraine an enemy to Putin.
    • That makes Ukraine an enemy to Trump.
    • That makes Ukraine an enemy of America to Trump's blindly loyal and devoted followers.
    • Blindly loyal and devoted followers of Trump see an American help Ukraine.
    • Take makes that American disloyal to America and loyal to the enemy to the blindly loyal and devoted Trump followers.
Rinse and repeat on every issue. It's textbook cult devotee thinking and behavior.

I take it you approve of endlessly funding Ukraine where even the next 2 presidents couldn't stop it?
Point of order: a ten-year agreement is, by definition, not an endless agreement. It ends in ten years.

Assange was right in 2011 when he said this and it definitely applies now. The US empire hates that Assange exposed some of their secrets and that's why they want him dead or jailed.
We didn’t start this war. Neither did Ukraine.

    Putin did.

Another point that SFL is failing to consider is that Trump seems to have given Johnson the green light to go ahead with Ukraine aid. Johnson is nothing if not loyal to Trump, and went to MAL a week before the aid package was passed. Trump hasn’t said a word about the aid package that I am aware of, and we all know he’s not one to keep silent if he is pissed off.

Remember Trump has no loyalty to anyone but himself. I read that the president of Poland had been calling him and working on him to give his blessing to the aid package. If anyone hits the right notes with Trump, he will flip any position he holds. If he sees an advantage to himself, he will change direction at any moment. He is ultimately corrupt and corruptible. Extremely so.

He belongs nowhere near any position of responsibility. Ever.

Ukraine using 20+ year old US munitions- and this is what US munitions do

Then here is a US Bradley FV engaging a Russian MT-LB ( infantry vehicle) and shredding it
