Russia continues to mass assets within range of Ukraine - though the official explanations are that they are for various exercises. United States intelligence has noted that Russian operatives in Ukraine could launch 'false flag' operations as a predicate to invasion. The West has pressed for negotiations and on Friday in Geneva, the US Sec. State Blinken will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Certainly the Russian movements evidence some plan - but what is it? Some analysts believe that Putin's grand scheme involves securing Western commitments that NATO would never expand beyond its current composition. Whether that means action in Ukraine or merely the movement of pieces on the chess board remains to be seen.

VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

There were hints, never quite spelled out, that nuclear weapons could be shifted to places — perhaps not far from the United States coastline — that would reduce warning times after a launch to as little as five minutes, potentially igniting a confrontation with echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Well originally it was a reference to members of Congress, but I see you have shifted to citizens to try to make your point. Epic Fail

It's obvious those Congressman's loyalties lie with Ukraine and weapons manufacturers instead of the US.

your "isolationism" is showing...please cover it up. No one want to see that shriveled up, 60 year old....ideal.

LOL SFL panties all in a wad over Ukraine aid.
Any rational person would be considering we are 35 trillion in debt and that's not even considering unfunded liabilities. Didn't they say 80% of the money is going directly to weapons manufacturers?

This is the kind if thing I was afraid of. They found their next Afghanistan in regards to long-term enrichment of the military industrial complex on the backs of US citizens.

The next 2 presidents won't be able to stop the money. That's horrible.

It's called a non interventionist foreign policy.
That non-interventionism is precisely how Hitler came to dominate nearly the entirety of the European theater of war before we did anything about it. Non-interventionism has always been an abject failure. You're about 100 years behind the curve.

Tell me you haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about without telling me. Nice.

David Sacks mad cuz he might have to actually start paying taxes LOL.

David Sacks says " be afraid" - you oblige.

    lemming.

Whats horrible? the cost or the fact that all the Rubles you have been paid will be worth next to nothing in the next 5 years. We finna bankrupt Russia. ya herd. So spend em while you got em.

Putin is never going to give up Ukraine. He has created a christo-fascist cult in Russia among his followers, using the old Kyivan Rus civilization as the foundation. The problem with that is that Kyivan Rus was founded in A.D. 988 and was the birthplace of both Ukraine and Russia with Kyiv as its capital. Therefor it is essential for him and the patriarcat of the Russian Orthodoc Church to regain control over Kyiv.

I take it you approve of endlessly funding Ukraine where even the next 2 presidents couldn't stop it?

We are going to bankrupt Russia while bankrupting ourselves?

Russia is 408 billion in debt.

The US is 35 trillion in debt.

    USA GDP...$26 trillion

Russia GDP...$2 trillion and probably much lower than that

    So....

I'm all for helping Ukraine end this as quickly as possible without starting WWIII. The military-industrial complex can pound sand compared to the unbelievable amounts of money to be made rebuilding and partnering with Ukraine.
Not to mention the possibility of getting a good-faith trade partner running Russia.
The ReallyReally Big Money doesn't want this to last forever.

Guess what. We funded the destruction of Ukraine though our proxy war with Russia and we will also fund the reconstruction with vultures like Blackrock waiting in the wings to milk the taxpayer.

The military industrial complex and vultures like Blackrock are extremely pleased about the next forever war in place to enrich them.

The really big money knows this will last a long time until the US finds their next target most likely Iran.

Assange was right in 2011 when he said this and it definitely applies now. The US empire hates that Assange exposed some of their secrets and that's why they want him dead or jailed.

More conspiracy theory nonsense. Same story, same old song and dance.

Again this poster is complaining about things Trump did to a greater degree than any other president.

The "enrichment of the military industrial complex" was greater under Trump than any other president. He even started and funded an entirely new branch of the military.

Where was this poster's concern about "enrichment of the military industrial complex" by a president while Trump was doing it?

The reason this poster constantly contradicts themself and uses double standards is because of their blind loyalty and devotion to Trump. There's way too many American citizens who are also blindly loyal and devoted to Trump.

They're not blindly loyal and devoted to conservatism, isolationism, any other ideology, the Republican Party, the Tea Party or even the MAGA movement.

They are all singularly loyal and devoted to Trump.
    • If Trump called for giving 99.99% of our federal revenue to North Korea, they'd champion it.
    • If Trump called for assassinating Putin and replacing him with a puppet, they'd champion it.
    • If Trump called for attacking China, they'd champion it.
    • When Trump says he want's to censor media by revoking their licenses, they champion it.
    • When Trump gave record setting money to the rich, than championed it.
This poster and way too many others are not driven by any philosophy, ideology, or moral or religious beliefs. That are only driven by their blind loyalty and devotion to Trump.

They lap up all of the irrational and dishonest justifications fed to them and then they regurgitate those irrational and dishonest justifications at everyone else. They don't analyze, think or contemplate what they're told. They simply lap it up and regurgitate it at everyone else.

They are actually the strongest and most compelling argument for voting for any candidate besides Trump.

Take a moment to recall all of the leaders throughout history that had that kind of blind loyalty and devotion from a large group of people. The leaders that had followers who would believe anything the leader told them to believe, without questioning. The leaders that had followers who would support anything the leader told them to support, without questioning. The leaders that had follower who would do anything the leader told them to do, without questioning.

Jog your memory on that for a bit.

Now, out of all of those leaders that had that level of blind loyalty and devotion, list how many of them didn't lead their blindly loyal and devoted followers into committing horribly inhumane actions against others and/or themselves?

If Trump had won in 2020, it would have been four more years of the same level of Trumpism as his first four years. He wouldn't have been able to run again this year, so he would have left the White House still a winner in his mind.

Trump losing the election turboboosted his worst intentions and behaviors. He's seething for vengence, not just against his political and legal opposition, but also against the millions of us who didn't vote for him.

Trump punishes people for defying him and he does it to as great a degree as he can get away with. Right now, too many people surrounding Trump are laying the foundation to allow him to seek whatever degree of vengeful punishment he desires. He's made it clear going back all the way to the 80's that he desires to kill people he doesn't like. He's says that's one of the things he admires about Putin, Xi, and Kim, that they can kill the people they don't like.

If Trump wins the election, as impossible as it may seem, it's highly likely the US will descend into a fascist terrorist state like Germany did under the Nazi's. The superiority/inferiority dividing line will be between white heterosexual oppressive christians and everyone else. Too many people surrounding Trump right now openly want to make America a white christian fascist state and they will exploit Trump's revenge lust to creat it.

Anybody voting for Trump needs to realize that they are breaking the seal on Pandora's box. They may not be the one who opens the box and it may never be open, but anyone voting for Trump brings us dangerously close to the box being open.

Out of an abundance of caution, steer clear of the box by voting for Biden.

Hold your nose if you have to. Remind yourself that four more years of Biden is not nearly as risky as another four years of Trump. Trump is on a mission of vengeance and surrounded by people who want to destroy our society to reshape it in their image, not Christ's image, their image. The Nazi's falsely claimed they reshaped Germany in Christ's image. That was a lie then, just as it's a lie now that some surrounding Trump want to reshape our nation in Christ's image.

I would actually like you to flesh out this thought. This sounds like fruit loops.

Was lend/lease a traitorous act perpetuated by FDR, and Congress?

Can you not be loyal to your own country while supporting the war effort of an ally?
